The Praça do Comércio (Commerce Square) situated near the Tagus river, is still commonly known as Terreiro do Paço because it was the location of the Paços da Ribeira (Royal Ribeira Palace) until it was destroyed by the great 1755 Lisbon earthquake. After the earthquake, the square was completely remodeled as part of the rebuilding of the Pombaline Downtown, ordered by Sebastião José de Carvalho e Melo, 1st Marquis of Pombal.
I met Jorge and his dog on those same rocks, at Playa Yankee, where I shot is portrait. He was there, fishing. We talked about the waves, the tides and he told me the name of every single bay and cove our eyes could see. Then, I asked to shoot his portrait, I shot three identical frames and finally, I thanked him and we said goodbye. (shot at Playa Yankee, Nicarágua)
